PPPoE billing
tied to every session
For home and business subscribers on PPPoE, billing and the network have to agree at all times. Iterative Billing creates the session when a subscriber pays, enforces their speed plan, disconnects gracefully on expiry, and reconnects the moment the next payment lands, with a built-in RADIUS server doing the accounting.

Where manual PPPoE management leaks revenue
Expired subscribers who stay connected for days because nobody disabled them.
Expiry triggers a RADIUS CoA disconnect automatically and redirects the subscriber to a payment page.
Speed upgrades that need a technician to edit the router.
Change the plan in the dashboard; CoA applies the new bandwidth profile in real time without dropping the session.
No record of who used what, when.
RADIUS accounting logs uptime and data usage per session for reporting and disputes.

Live in three steps
- 1
Create the IP pool and PPP profile
On the MikroTik, following the step-by-step guide linked below.
- 2
Point the router at RADIUS
Use the platform’s RADIUS address and secret; enable incoming CoA.
- 3
Define speed plans
Each package carries a bandwidth profile and billing cycle: daily, weekly, monthly or custom.
Pay for the network you run
Billed in Kenyan shillings. From 1 October 2026. Routers and hotspot sites are not metered.
KSh 15 per active customer a month
Never more than KSh 7,000 a month up to 1,000 customers. The cap is reached at 467 customers, so customers 468 to 1,000 add nothing to your bill.
2% of revenue you actually collect
Never more than KSh 3,000 a month. Failed payments, refunds and reversals are never counted.
KSh 1,000
Applied once, to the total of both meters, never on top. Routers and hotspot sites are not metered.
Kenyan networks are billed in shillings. Outside Kenya: $0.135 per customer (max $63), 2% of hotspot (max $27), $9 minimum.
Questions operators ask
What happens when a PPPoE subscriber’s subscription expires?
The platform sends a RADIUS Change-of-Authorization to terminate the session gracefully and can redirect the subscriber to a payment page. When they pay, the session is re-enabled automatically, typically within seconds.
Do I need to run FreeRADIUS separately?
No. A RADIUS server with CoA support is built into Iterative Billing and configured automatically.
Can I offer static IPs to business customers?
Yes. Static IP allocation and tracking is included, and static IP subscribers are billed alongside PPPoE and hotspot users.
Which billing cycles are supported?
Daily, weekly, monthly and custom cycles. Invoices are generated automatically and reminders go out by SMS before expiry.
Does this work with routers other than MikroTik?
MikroTik RouterOS is the primary integration. Huawei OLTs (MA5608T, MA5683T, MA5800, EA5800) are supported for GPON/FTTH networks, with ONU suspension tied to billing status.
