MikroTik billing system
with M-Pesa built in
Turn every MikroTik router into a self-managing billing edge. Iterative Billing speaks to RouterOS over its API and RADIUS, so PPPoE profiles, hotspot users, queues and IP pools are created from the billing side, and a subscriber’s M-Pesa payment is what switches their session on.

Why operators stop scripting MikroTik by hand
Queue rules and PPP secrets drift out of sync with what customers actually paid for.
Packages define speed and price once. The platform writes the matching queue and profile to the router and updates it with a CoA when the plan changes, no drift.
A single FreeRADIUS server that only one person knows how to fix.
RADIUS is part of the platform: authentication, accounting, MAC binding and simultaneous-session limits are configured from the dashboard.
Router problems you learn about from customer calls.
Every router reports health, uptime and bandwidth utilisation in real time, with alerts when one goes offline.
Deep RouterOS integration, not a generic connector
Automatic PPPoE & hotspot provisioning
Accounts are created on the router the moment a subscriber pays, and removed or suspended when they lapse.
CoA for live plan changes
Upgrade a subscriber from 5 to 10 Mbps without disconnecting them, Change-of-Authorization applies it instantly.
Queues, pools and DHCP
Simple queues, queue trees, IP pool allocation and DHCP lease tracking managed from the billing side.
Static IP management
Allocate and track static IPs for business subscribers alongside their billing record.
Firmware & configuration
Remote configuration and firmware management across your whole fleet from one screen.
Fleet-wide monitoring
Status, health checks and utilisation graphs for every router across every site, with alerts.

Live in three steps
- 1
Add the router
IP, API port (8728 by default) and credentials. Supported: hAP, RB, CCR, CRS, LtAP and hEX series.
- 2
Point it at RADIUS
Use the RADIUS details the dashboard gives you; enable incoming CoA. The guide below walks through every step.
- 3
Create a package
The platform generates the PPPoE profile and queue. Payments now drive the router.
Pay for the network you run
Billed in Kenyan shillings. From 1 October 2026. Routers and hotspot sites are not metered.
KSh 15 per active customer a month
Never more than KSh 7,000 a month up to 1,000 customers. The cap is reached at 467 customers, so customers 468 to 1,000 add nothing to your bill.
2% of revenue you actually collect
Never more than KSh 3,000 a month. Failed payments, refunds and reversals are never counted.
KSh 1,000
Applied once, to the total of both meters, never on top. Routers and hotspot sites are not metered.
Kenyan networks are billed in shillings. Outside Kenya: $0.135 per customer (max $63), 2% of hotspot (max $27), $9 minimum.
Questions operators ask
Does MikroTik have built-in billing?
No. RouterOS provides user management, queues and a hotspot server, but not invoicing, payment collection or automatic activation. A billing system like Iterative Billing sits alongside the router and drives those features through the API and RADIUS.
Which RouterOS versions are supported?
RouterOS v6 and v7, across all device families including hAP, RB4011, RB5009, CCR1009, CCR1036, CCR2004, CRS and LtAP.
Can I manage routers in different towns from one account?
Yes. Router connections are unlimited. Each router is monitored independently and can serve its own packages and hotspot portals.
How does M-Pesa activation reach the router?
Safaricom sends a payment callback to the platform; the payment is matched to the subscriber; the platform then creates or re-enables the PPPoE or hotspot user on the router and confirms by SMS, typically within seconds.
Do I have to give up my existing router configuration?
No. You keep your addressing, firewall and existing setup. The platform adds and manages the PPP profiles, queues, pools and hotspot users it is responsible for.
