SopraEnt, often searched as the Sopra billing system, is a hotspot and ISP billing platform that is live in Uganda. This comparison reports SopraEnt's own published claims from sopraent.com as read on 31 October 2026, without endorsing them, and sets Iterative Billing's published prices beside them with the arithmetic shown, including where SopraEnt's sticker is lower.
Short answer: SopraEnt publishes a single flat plan, USh 25,000 a month in Uganda and $7 a month in other African countries, after a 21-day free trial, and it takes no share of revenue. That is a lower sticker than Iterative Billing at almost every network size. Iterative Billing charges $0.135 per active PPPoE or static-IP customer, capped at $45 a month up to 500 customers, plus 2 percent of collected hotspot revenue capped at $27 a month, with a $9 minimum, and for that it adds fibre OLT automation, TR-069, network monitoring, AI troubleshooting and native apps that SopraEnt's site does not advertise. We build Iterative Billing, so check every claim here against both.
The two platforms at a glance
SopraEnt says it is trusted by more than 3,000 ISPs across Africa. Its home page lists MikroTik integration by API with auto-provisioning scripts, voucher management with agents and resellers, PPPoE subscriptions with a self-renewal portal, a captive portal designer with eight themes and login-page advertisements, SMS and WhatsApp notifications with a WhatsApp chatbot, multi-WAN PCC load balancing, access point tracking, RADIUS data caps and per-voucher usage tracking. It names 19 payment gateways, including ioTec Pay, Pesapal, Flutterwave, M-Pesa Daraja, Paystack, AzamPay and ClickPesa, and a payments service that it says is now live in Uganda for MTN Mobile Money.
Iterative Billing is a cloud ISP and hotspot billing platform built on MikroTik with built-in RADIUS and CoA. In Uganda it collects MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money through ioTec Pay on your own merchant account, adds a direct MTN MoMo integration and Pesapal and Flutterwave for cards, and bills subscribers in Ugandan shillings.
Published pricing, honestly
| Network | SopraEnt (published) | Iterative Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Hotspot collecting $500 a month | USh 25,000 | $10 |
| Hotspot collecting $2,000 a month | USh 25,000 | $27 (capped) |
| 300 PPPoE customers | USh 25,000 | $40.50 |
| 300 PPPoE customers and $2,000 of hotspot | USh 25,000 | $67.50 |
| 1,000 PPPoE customers and $5,000 of hotspot | USh 25,000 | $117 |
Monthly platform charge from each platform's published rates. SopraEnt lists one plan with every feature included and gives $7 as its price outside Uganda. One-time fees: none published by SopraEnt; $9 new account fee at Iterative Billing. Mobile money charges from the gateway apply on both.
On price alone SopraEnt wins, and we would rather say so than hide it. The question is what the difference buys.
What the extra cost buys on Iterative Billing
SopraEnt's site does not advertise the following as of 31 October 2026, and they are where Iterative Billing's charge goes:
- •Fibre: Huawei GPON OLT automation, so FTTH customers are provisioned, suspended and restored with billing.
- •Customer premises: TR-069 management of customer WiFi routers, including remote reboots and WiFi credential resets.
- •Network operations: SNMP monitoring and a NOC view of routers and links.
- •AI agents that troubleshoot at router and network level before a technician is sent.
- •Apps: an operator app for iOS and Android, a technician app, and a self-care app for your subscribers.
- •Accounting, IPv6 dual stack and a multi-language dashboard.
Both advertise MikroTik provisioning, PPPoE with self-renewal, vouchers with resellers and portal advertising, so a hotspot-only operator gets the core of the job from either.
Which should you choose?
SopraEnt's own positioning is the hotspot and PPPoE operator on MikroTik who wants every feature for one low monthly fee. Choose Iterative Billing if you run or plan fibre, manage customer routers, want monitoring and AI support in the same system, or need native apps for staff and subscribers, and you accept a usage charge that is capped as you grow. Apply for Iterative Billing at billing.iterativebilling.com/register (approved networks get a 3-day trial), and the caps are on the pricing page.
