Iterative Billing vs Internetily (Netily): ISP Billing Compared (2026)

A factual comparison of Iterative Billing and Internetily (formerly Netily) for Kenyan and East African ISPs: published pricing at real subscriber counts, hotspot revenue share, MikroTik and RADIUS depth, FTTH readiness and AI operations.

Updated First published 5 min read

Internetily (formerly Netily) and Iterative Billing are both built for the same operator: the Kenyan or East African ISP running MikroTik, collecting M-Pesa, and juggling PPPoE, hotspot and static-IP customers. The platforms overlap heavily on the basics and diverge on pricing model, network-management depth and what happens after the invoice is paid. Prices and features below are as published on each website in August 2026; competitor claims are reported as their claims rather than endorsed, and the arithmetic is laid out so you can verify every number against their own price list.

The two platforms at a glance

Internetily prices per subscriber: KSh 500 activation, then KSh 25 per PPPoE subscriber per month plus a 3 percent hotspot revenue share, with a KSh 500 monthly minimum and free M-Pesa STK Push integration. Its own cost calculator quotes a 500-PPPoE operator with modest hotspot revenue at roughly KSh 12,650 per month. An enterprise tier with custom pricing adds a 99.9 percent uptime SLA and priority support. The pitch is pay-as-you-grow: tiny operators pay very little, and the fee tracks the subscriber base.

Iterative Billing (from 1 October 2026) charges KSh 15 per active PPPoE subscriber, never more than KSh 5,000 a month up to 500 subscribers, KSh 10,000 up to 1,000 and KSh 40,000 beyond, plus 2 percent of collected hotspot revenue capped at KSh 3,000, with a KSh 1,000 minimum and unlimited routers and hotspot sites. Around the billing core sits a network layer: built-in RADIUS with CoA, Huawei GPON OLT automation for FTTH, TR-069 WiFi management, SNMP monitoring, agentic AI that troubleshoots and repairs autonomously, a self-service hotspot advertising engine, full white-labelling, and mobile apps for operators and subscribers.

Pricing at real subscriber counts

Using each platform's published August 2026 rates (Internetily: KSh 25 per PPPoE subscriber monthly plus 3 percent of hotspot revenue, KSh 500 minimum; Iterative: KSh 15 per active subscriber, capped):

  • •50 customers. Internetily about KSh 1,250; Iterative KSh 1,000.
  • •100 customers. Internetily about KSh 2,500; Iterative KSh 1,500.
  • •500 customers. Internetily about KSh 12,500 plus hotspot share (their calculator shows KSh 12,650 with modest hotspot revenue); Iterative KSh 5,000 (capped).
  • •1,000 customers. Internetily about KSh 25,000 plus hotspot share; Iterative KSh 10,000 (capped).
  • •2,500 customers. Internetily about KSh 62,500 plus hotspot share; Iterative KSh 25,000 (capped).

Below roughly 60 subscribers with no hotspot, Internetily's KSh 500 minimum is the lower sticker price, that is arithmetic from its own price list, not our opinion. What the sticker leaves out: the KSh 500 activation fee, the 3 percent hotspot share the moment you sell WiFi, and the fact that Iterative Billing's KSh 1,000 minimum already comes with RADIUS, the network stack, AI operations, the ads engine and both apps. From about 40 subscribers Iterative's capped rate wins outright, and for hotspot-heavy operators the gap compounds: KSh 100,000 of monthly hotspot revenue costs KSh 3,000 a month at Internetily and KSh 2,000 at Iterative, and KSh 300,000 costs KSh 9,000 against Iterative's KSh 3,000 cap.

What Internetily advertises, reported straight

These are Internetily's own published claims from netily.co.ke in August 2026, reported for accuracy rather than endorsed: a branded subscriber self-service portal for renewals, invoices, tickets and usage; Kenya Data Protection Act compliance with encrypted storage and audit trails; a KSh 500 monthly minimum; a 14-day trial; and a 99.9 percent uptime SLA on its custom-priced enterprise tier. Two things worth setting beside that list: Iterative Billing ships its own white-label subscriber portal plus the Internet Billing self-care app, and its KSh 1,000 minimum comes with the full network, AI and advertising stack, no activation fee, and caps that stop the bill rising as you grow.

Where Iterative Billing pulls ahead

  • •The network layer is part of the product. Built-in RADIUS with Change of Authorization for instant suspend and restore on live sessions, Huawei GPON OLT automation (ONU auto-authorization, WAN provisioning, watchdogs) for the move to FTTH, TR-069 management of customer WiFi routers, and SNMP monitoring, the operational stack an ISP otherwise assembles from separate tools.
  • •Agentic AI operations. Autonomous monitoring and troubleshooting down to the customer router and MikroTik network level, remote reboots, secure WiFi credential resets. Operators on the platform report recovering 8 to 9 of every 10 customers who would previously have churned after unresolved faults.
  • •A wider payment map. M-Pesa Paybill, Till and STK Push plus Co-op Bank, KopoKopo, SasaPay (M-Pesa, Airtel Money and T-Kash in one), Pesapal (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania), Flutterwave (eight-plus African markets), Paystack, MTN MoMo (Uganda, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Cameroon) and WaafiPay (Somalia, Djibouti, UAE), one platform, many countries, ready when you expand.
  • •Advertising revenue from your portals. The self-service ads engine lets local businesses buy and pay for slots on your hotspot landing pages; operators in busy locations report it can double a site's earnings.
  • •Apps on both sides. The operator app for iPhone and Android runs the whole ISP; subscribers, PPPoE, hotspot and static IP, get the Internet Billing self-care app on Google Play.
  • •Full white-labelling. Run the operation from your own domain under your own brand, portal, invoices and subscriber experience included.
  • •Finance depth. Double-entry ledgers, wallets and statements, and KRA eTIMS-aligned invoicing built in, billing that satisfies your accountant, not just your router.

Which should you choose?

Internetily's pay-as-you-grow pitch targets micro-operators under about 60 subscribers with no hotspot revenue, where its KSh 500 minimum is the lower sticker price. Everywhere beyond that point the published numbers run one way, and the sticker never includes the network layer, the AI operations or the advertising engine at any size.

Choose Iterative Billing if you are at or heading past 100 subscribers, run hotspot sites whose revenue you intend to keep whole, want FTTH, TR-069 and AI operations on the roadmap without changing platforms, or want the advertising engine and subscriber app working for you. At 500 subscribers the published numbers are roughly KSh 12,650 against KSh 3,500 a month.

Run both trials against your own routers and payment flow, Internetily's 14 days, and Iterative's 3 days at https://billing.iterativebilling.com/register. Full tiers are on the pricing page; Internetily prices are from netily.co.ke as of August 2026 and may change.

Frequently asked questions

Which is cheaper, Iterative Billing or Internetily?
At published August 2026 rates, Internetily's KSh 500 monthly minimum is the lower sticker price below roughly 60 subscribers with no hotspot revenue, though it sits beside a KSh 500 activation fee and a far smaller included feature set. From about 40 subscribers, Iterative Billing's capped rate wins at every point: 100 subscribers cost KSh 1,500 versus about KSh 2,500, 500 subscribers KSh 5,000 versus KSh 12,500-plus, and 1,000 subscribers KSh 10,000 versus about KSh 25,000, with Internetily also taking 3 percent of hotspot revenue where Iterative takes 2 percent capped at KSh 3,000.
Do both platforms handle M-Pesa STK Push and MikroTik?
Yes, both automate M-Pesa STK Push collections and MikroTik PPPoE and hotspot provisioning with RADIUS. Iterative Billing extends the stack with CoA on live sessions, Huawei GPON OLT automation for FTTH, TR-069 customer-router management, SNMP monitoring, agentic AI troubleshooting, and additional gateways including Co-op Bank, KopoKopo, SasaPay, Pesapal, Flutterwave, Paystack, MTN MoMo and WaafiPay.
What is the difference in hotspot pricing between the two?
Internetily charges a 3 percent share of hotspot revenue on top of per-subscriber fees, so a site collecting KSh 100,000 a month pays KSh 3,000 monthly for it. Iterative Billing takes 2 percent of collected hotspot revenue, capped at KSh 3,000 a month, with unlimited hotspot sites, and adds a self-service advertising engine that lets local businesses pay for ad slots on your captive portals, an extra income stream rather than an extra fee.
